Marvel Cinematic Universe Heads
Hey everyone. Back again with another minor reveal. This time, I didn’t make a custom figure, but I did make 7 alternate heads for my MCU collection. Check out, Tony, Tony, Cap, Banner, Strange, Bucky and Sam.
I decided that doing 7 heads at the same time would be a great idea (note the sarcasm). I figured, I’d kill 7 birds with one stone I guess. Haha. I wanted to use this as practice to try to perfect my head painting abilities. I decided to use a tutorial by Harrop who is most well known for his 1/12 scale Star Wars heads. It was easy to follow and it most of the paints used where ones I actually owned, leaving minimal information for me to figure out on my own. You can find said tutorial on his youtube channel (or more directly, at this link: https://youtu.be/6XNFZcpLPyA)
Overall, I was quite happy with the skin tones and the hair on all of these guys. I took my time, corrected all my slops and mishaps I made when painting and was overly pleased with the end results. I thought the scone tones looked quite realistic.
The eyes (and eye brows) are where I hit all my problems, as I usually do. I tried to redo them all over and over (pretty sure Cap has prob 10 layers of paint on his eyes haha). I got to the point where I was pretty happy with most of them, but then I attempted to put the little white glisten into all of their eyes (to add realism) and completely botched all of them. At that point, I was so over it, that I did not even bother to correct them at all.
I figured, from a far, these would serve their purpose (most of them were for my Civil War display in the back of my collection, the only spot in my collection that displays these characters without their helmet/mask.) Overall, I am happy enough with them. They aren’t perfect, but it was a good opportunity to try my hand at a new face painting technique, that I think turned out quite well. If it wasn’t for my damn shakey hands and unbalanced eye they’d be pretty close to perfect. Haha. Thanks everyone for stopping by an checking out this reveal. Up next, 90’s X-Fact
