X-23 (Concept 90's Costume)
Hey everyone. I have yet another X-Men related reveal to showcase. This time, I tried my hand at costume design. Here is, my first attempt at an original costume, my concept 90’s X-23.
My idea for this first came to me when Omarali and I were discussing doing a custom swap with one another. One of the characters on my list was X-23 in any costume. He started talking about how he would approach it and what parts he would use. From that discussion is where I got the idea (and most of my recipe) to do a 90’s style X-23 in a costume that would feel right at home with the X-Men Blue or Gold teams.
Laura was made using a White Tiger lower torso, legs (all except the boots) and upper arms, Ms Marvel upper torso and lower arms, hands and alt feet, Nico Minoru head and boots, Rogue’s glove cuffs and belt and Scarlet Spider’s leg pouches. The claws came are casts of a movie wolverine of some sort that I got from Casting Cave.
I did a bit of sculpting on this piece. I added a waist line to her pants, extended the upper body to look like she is wearing a crop top, added ripped sleeves to the upper arms and a few straps on her legs. I was going to give her a side pony but I was worried it would make her look less serious. lol.
Initially, I had finished her using a different color scheme on her shirt (see last pic on this page), but i thought it made the shirt look too much like a 2000's era costume so i redid the shirt.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with X-23. Her eyes are a bit wonky but after I had gone back to fix the shirt I had no more motivation for this figure, so onto the shelf she went. lol. Thanks for popping by and checking out my work.
